One of the edgier types of ecstatic practice involves stressing the body in various ways in order to achieve ecstasy and with luck, an opening of the 'door' to the Otherworlds. This workshop will explore some of these ideas as they are practiced around the world, such as the Hindu Kavadi, the Plains Indian Sun Dance, and the practices of the western Modern Primitives movement. There will also be a short demonstration of a live 'hook pull' and a rite dedicated to the release of our pain and fear.  This workshop will be limited to adults only.
